On July 30th 2006, we loaded up the equipment, picked up a pizza, and headed up old route 66 at the Zuzax exit to Randy's Zuzax Trax recording studio in the beautiful Sandia Mountains. |
The second day up at Zuzax Trax, the clouds were building up and it looked like we might get some rain. By the time we started into the song, "Drown In My Own Tears", you could hear some distant claps of thunder. By the time Joanie got to the line, "it feels like it's raining all the time", the clouds opened up and it started pouring. We just hoped that the lightning would hold off until the end of the song. Sure enough, a bolt of lightning knocked out the electricity just after we finished recording. So we went into the house and ate one of Joanie's home cooked dishes and waited out the storm. |

About the Album Cover: |
When we opened up the Microsoft "Paint" program to make a CD cover, we had no idea of what we were doing or where we were going with it. We just gave ourselves a green light and started putting in just about everything that we could come up with. There actually is a logic and meaning with the characters which frame the photo. We started with the sun, just because we liked the sunglasses, and we threw in the hot air balloons and the roadrunner just 'cause they look good against the Sandia Mountains, but everything else represents something that is mentioned or explained somewhere in the website. Find the clues and be an enlightened Combo Special fan. If you give up and need the answers we will email them to you. |
