Melvin cut his teeth and got his chops in Chicago, working and recording with some of the hot blues bands during the 70's and 80's before moving to Albuquerque in 1986. Since then, he's probably played with most of the working bands and musicians in the state at one time or another. Anyone here in New Mexico who has heard and watched him play would probably say, "that dude, Melvin, was born to drum". But the blues cats that he played and recorded with in Chicago, probably just said, "that cat, Melvin, is a born natural". Either way you say it, to us he's just Melvin. |
